Racing Begins at Nationals in Hood River
Day two at the 2012 US Windsurfing Nationals presented by the American Windsurfing Tour started slowly with a perfectly calm morning. The restful conditions allowed all the racers to settle into the Hood River Event Site and get all their gear rigged up and ready. Countdown to the Olympics
The Olympic windsurfing competiton begins in just a few days, on July 31 in Weymouth, UK. Bob Willis and Farrah Hall are our representatives for the United States and we are so excited to be cheering them on! Formula North American’s end in San Fran. Nationals Begin in Hood River
The Formula Windsurfing North American Championships wrapped up in San Francisco this past weekend. Racers had classic fantastic San Francisco conditions! Winner Wilhelm Schurmann beat out the stiff competition to take first place. Wave Contest and Slalom Races
The American Windsurfing Tour just wrapped up another hugely successful event in Pistol River, OR with the Naish Pistol River Wave Bash. Great wind, great waves and fantastic wave sailing talent made for a spectacular event. Levi Siver took first place, followed by Bernd Roediger, Morgan Noireaux and Kai Katchadourian. Windsurfing out of the Olympics for 2016
Most everyone has heard by now of the recent decision by ISAF to replace windsurfing with kite boarding in the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Brazil. It only took a few hours for a petition drive to begin to ask ISAF to reverse the decision, you can see and sign the petition at http://www.change.org/petitions/isaf-keep-windsurfing-as-olympic-discipline. New Teen Residential Windsurf Camp in the Gorge!
The Columbia Gorge Teen Windsurf Camp which will open in July provides a new concept in teen camp programs. While residential specialty camps in baseball, tennis, soccer, etc. are plentiful, windsurfing camps tend to be day camps, which are fine if you live close to a windsurfing center, but don’t meet your needs unless you live close to a place where a day camp is held.
