Techno 293 Nationals & Kona New England Champs
Forty-two windsurfers from as far as Mexico, Canada, California, and Florida attended the Techno 293 National and the Kona One Design New England Championships at Vineyard Haven Yacht Club August 1 & 2. Olympic Windsurfing
The windsurfing competition of the 2012 Summer Olympic Games is drawing to a close, with the medal race to be run on Tueday, August 7. In the men’s fleet, Dorian Van Rijsselberge has locked up the gold medal even before the medal race! His commanding lead makes it mathematically impossilbe to lose his first place position. Pure stoke- an 8 day windsurfing bender from SF to the Gorge
32 races packed into 2 regattas over 8 days. That’s about as much windsurfing as one can possible get without overdosing on pure stoke. My body was on auto pilot the last few days of the bender living on power gels & protein recovery drink. This was our Olympic games for the amateur sailor. 2 races completed & 4 sails rigged and ready by 11:30 am without so much as a drop of coffee. 2012 US Windsurfing Nationals Rocked!
The 2012 US Windsurfing Nationals, presented by the American Windsurfing Tour wrapped up last Thursday. The event was fantastic, with freestyle, formula and slalom racing all taking place in four action packed days. The weather in Hood River was perfect; sunny, warm and windy. Racing Begins at Nationals in Hood River
Day two at the 2012 US Windsurfing Nationals presented by the American Windsurfing Tour started slowly with a perfectly calm morning. The restful conditions allowed all the racers to settle into the Hood River Event Site and get all their gear rigged up and ready.
